Deysi Merino, BA

Deysi B. Merino is the Migrant Health and Outreach Program Manager at Vista Community Clinic and has an extensive background in community outreach, health education, and program implementation. The heart of her work centers on supporting the migrant and farmworker communities as well as collaborating with promotores and líderes comunitarios.

Ms. Merino was the recipient of the Migrant Clinicians Network’s 2023 Kugel & Zuroweste Health Justice Award, which recognizes emerging healthcare professionals who are making a difference in the overlapping areas of vulnerability, migration, and health. Ms Merino’s firsthand experience working alongside her parents as a farmworker and assisting them in navigating resources brings valuable insight into her work.

Ms. Merino currently serves as the San Diego County Promotoras Coalition secretary as well as the Communications chair. Through her work and personal commitment, Ms. Merino continues uplifting the experiences of migrant and farmworker communities to ensure that their voices are included in decision- making spaces and that their experiences are considered in the development of accessible and culturally appropriate tools.
