Be part of a community committed to strengthening health and wellbeing through community health work.

The Coalition is changing its membership process to an application. Members will receive a variety of benefits, including priority access to Coalition-hosted events and priority for collaborative funding opportunities. You can become a member as an individual or organization.

General Coalition Member Meetings

Meetings are now held on the third Wednesday of every other month.

12:00 PM – 1:30 PM PST, Virtual

The San Diego County Promotores Coalition (SDCPC) meets every two months to discuss progress on activities, issues relevant to Promotores/Community Health Workers (P/CHWs), share committee updates and updates from members and other attendees and network with organizations and individuals across San Diego.

SDCPC meets on the third Wednesday of every other month. We encourage any individual or organization representative who seeks to or is currently working with P/CHWs to attend.

Regional CHW/P Meetings

The San Diego County Promotores Coalition meets regionally in the North, South, Central, and East areas. We invite CHW/P/R to this meeting, as this is a learning space for our community members.

Join a Coalition Committee

Committee involvement is voluntary and flexible, time commitments vary depending on the committee’s focus and current projects. Whether you’re passionate about advocacy, training, outreach, or evaluation, there’s a space for your voice and leadership.

By joining a committee, you’ll:

  • Build meaningful connections with fellow CHW/P/Rs and community partners
  • Stay actively engaged in the Coalition’s ongoing efforts
  • Support initiatives that directly benefit our communities and CHW/P/Rs
  • Help shape programs, events, and policies that reflect our shared values

Join a Committee!

We invite Community Health Workers, Promotor(a), or Representative (CHW/P/R) to join one or more of our committees! Deepen your impact and connect with others across San Diego County.

Communications

Secretary/ Communications Committee responsibilities and activities:

  • Supporting the development of the Steering Committee meeting agendas and documents in partnership with the Executive Director and Co-chairs. 
  • Recording, maintaining, and distributing Steering Committee meeting minutes. 
  • Maintaining the Steering Committee meeting calendar and sending invites. 
  • Maintaining Steering Committee attendance, officer terms, and membership list in partnership with the Membership Committee.

Finance

Treasurer/ Finance Committee responsibilities and activities:

  • Overseeing all matters related to the organization’s finances and budget.
    Maintaining basic knowledge and understanding of accepted accounting principles.
  • Acting as a liaison between the SDCPC and the fiscal agent, in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Obtaining and reviewing monthly financial statements and preparing quarterly reports for the Steering Committee in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Working with the Executive Director to develop an annual budget for approval at the annual meeting.

Membership

Membership Committee Chair and Membership Committee responsibilities and activities:

  • Invite new members to attend meetings and join the coalition.
  • Reviewing applications on a monthly basis as a part of standing meetings.
  • Providing recommendations to the Steering Committee for approval at the next meeting.
  • Responding to applicants within 90 days of application.
  • Filling in missing pieces/collect organizational info for membership records.
  • Sending questions to members in advance to share about themselves.
  • Introducing new members during general coalition meetings.

The committee meets every first Wednesday of the month at 1:00 – 2:00 pm.

Adelante Promotores Conference

The Conference Committee currently meets once a week on Tuesdays from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. Conference Committee Chair and Conference Committee responsibilities and activities:

  • Planning for and executing the annual Adelante Conference for CHW/P/Rs.
  • Securing fiscal sponsorships to offset the cost of the conference to the Coalition.
  • Identifying and scheduling presenters, workshops, resources, or other activities for the conference.
  • Tracking attendance for and participation in the conference.
  • Promoting and advertising the conference to ensure sufficient attendance.
